He’s helped hundreds of buyers and sellers navigate the ever-changing housing market and has built a career based on trust, results, and a deep love for his city. In this Q&A, Wally shares what keeps him passionate about his work, how the industry has evolved, and what he sees ahead for the future of real estate in Edmonton.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being a REALTOR®?
Wally: Honestly? Helping people. There’s nothing quite like handing over the keys to a first-time buyer or helping a family sell their home so they can move on to the next chapter. Every client has their own story and their own goals, and I love being the person who helps make it all happen. It’s a big responsibility, but also a huge honour.

Q: What do you love most about Edmonton?
Wally: Edmonton is a city that surprises people. It offers this great mix of urban energy and natural beauty. The River Valley alone is one of the best-kept secrets in Canada. But what really makes Edmonton special is the people. It’s a city full of hard-working, down-to-earth folks. I’ve lived here nearly my whole life and raised my daughter here, so I know the neighbourhoods, the market trends, and all the little gems that make each community unique.
Q: What do you find most rewarding about your job?
Wally: Seeing the difference I can make in someone’s life. When a client tells me I helped take the stress out of buying or selling a home, or that they felt completely confident working with me, that means everything. Real estate is more than just transactions. It’s about building relationships, earning trust, and delivering real results.
Q: How has the real estate industry changed since you started?
Wally: It’s changed in a big way. Technology has transformed how people search for homes, how we market listings, and how quickly deals move. When I started, most buyers depended entirely on REALTORS® to show them what was available. Now people come in with a ton of research already done, and they expect quick responses and digital tools to support the process.
What hasn’t changed is the importance of having someone you trust to guide you. That personal connection and local expertise still matter just as much today as they did 20 years ago.
Q: Where do you see the industry going in the next 5 to 10 years?
Wally: I think we’ll continue to see more innovation in marketing and client service. Virtual tours, AI, and data tools are going to play a bigger role in how people find and buy homes. But I also think there will be a growing demand for truly personalized service. Buyers and sellers want someone who understands their unique situation and can give them expert advice—not just access to listings.
Q: What’s your outlook on the future of the Edmonton market?
Wally: I’m very optimistic. Edmonton continues to offer great value compared to other major cities in Canada. Our population is growing, the economy is diversifying, and we’re seeing more people move here from out of province. Housing is still relatively affordable, which makes it attractive to first-time buyers, families, and investors alike.
Of course, every market has its ups and downs, but Edmonton has solid fundamentals. It’s a great place to live and a smart place to invest.
